In “Hillbilly Honeymoon,” an episode of The Monkees that originally aired October 23, 1967, Peter Tork played the role of Uncle Racoon. The character, loosely inspired by David Crockett, comically spoke his first lines with a German accent. Once corrected, he changed his accent to “hillbilly.”
